Jung Jin Hwa and Jung Jin Hu elected 13th president and vice-president

news In the presidential election completed December 14th, members chose Jung Jin Hwa and her running mate Jung Jin Hu. They received 56% of the vote.

The team ran under the slogan "Building the union closer to people."

There have been two elections for the top positions this year. Jung's opponent, outgoing president Jung Gi Ho, was known to oppose government plans to implement its teacher evaluation plan.

In a press conference following the vote, the newly-elected team said that they would lead education reform and practice to create a vision of Korean education for the 21st century. "We’ll have more conversations with parents and students and try to convince people not by holding hard-line protests in the streets, but by making the best of dialogues." She went on to say that would be “considerable change" in union policies.

A manual for election affairs was published and distributed to every branch office for the first time. However, the competition became overheated towards the end of campaigning. The committee that monitors union elections made a number of activities illegal, including restricting the distribution of candidates' email addresses and name cards.
