The KTU is committed to 참교육(ChamGyoYuk). 참 means true or real. 교육 means education. In Korea, public education was distorted by military regimes such that schools were little more than propaganda centres.
The defining purpose of the KTU is to implement ChamGyoYuk in place of current education structures.
The Symbol of ChamGyoYuk
The symbol of the KTU was designed in 1989, when the KTU was founded. The colors red and blue are from the Eastern Taeguk, the Great Absolute, and represent a divided Korea. The smiling child is placed between North and South Korea. Children in the future will be happier through ChamGyoYuk.
